Additional Science (One GCSE)
- is a single GCSE qualification
- builds on the knowledge and skills learnt in GCSE Core Science
- provides a balanced Science curriculum in combination with GCSE Core Science
- ensures appropriate knowledge and skills for a seamless progression to 'AS' Science subjects
- assessed by three written exams

Pupils who opt to take Double Science (Core Science and Additional Science) and Triple Science will study the following modules in Year 11:
- Biology 2 Cell structures and processes, ecological interdependence, homeostasis, and genetics
- Chemistry 2 Structures & bonding, using ions, rates of reaction, reversible reactions, and quantitative chemistry
- Physics 2 The physics of movement, static and current electricity, radioactivity, and nuclear fission and fusion
One of these modules will be assessed in a formal, externally marked written exam in January of Year 11. Exams to assess the other two modules are taken in the summer of Year 11. Each exam is worth 25% of the final mark.
The other 25% of the GCSE will be assessed by an internally sat and marked “Investigative Skills Assessment” (ISA).
