Psychology

Psychology at Stringer

Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour. By studying the way people interact with each other, we begin to understand our own behaviour and feelings better. Psychology knowledge and skills are increasingly recognised as useful in a huge range of jobs.

This relatively new GCSE course is an exciting introduction to a useful and wide-ranging subject. Students study and evaluate key theories and research in six main areas of psychology: Social, Behavioural, Developmental, Cognitive, Bio-psychology, and Individual Differentiation. They also learn how to design, carry out and evaluate research of their own.

More details of the syllabus can be found at www.ocr.org.uk or this course outline.

“The purpose of psychology is to give us a completely different idea of the things we know best.”
Paul Valéry

“The first and best victory is to conquer yourself; to be conquered by yourself is, of all things the most shameful and vile.”
Plato

"The only normal people are the ones you don't know very well."
Alfred Adler

“You have an organ in your head. Part of that organ is called the cerebral cortex. This nifty gadget transforms matter into consciousness. With it we can do what no other organism on this planet has ever been able to do. We can change ourselves. Think of the possibilities.”
Michael P. Black
