Girls PE Dinner
This year we decided to celebrate girls sporting winter achievements by taking them out for a meal. It was the first time that 60 girls where invited to celebrate girls sports teams. Female pupils that had played for a winter team where invited to attend. They arrived in their finest evening wear to Donatellos in Brighton on Tuesday 3rd June, sat down and began their first course which varied from pizza to pasta. After a quick clear up the long awaited puddings were brought out. The chocolate gateaux and mixed ice-cream were the winners amongst the girls, most of which ended up on their faces rather than in the mouths. A BIG thank you must go to Donatellos for putting up with that many screeching young ladies and to Miss Young who organised it all.

Year 7 Inter-form Touch Rugby
7HOR won their second Inter-form competition in this year’s Inter-form rugby organised by the PE department. Jesse Starkey, Ben Supple, Coltrane Chead, and Al Woodbridge all impressed in the group stages as 7HOR eased past 7IBT in the first match, running out 4-0 winners. 7PRC were similarly brushed aside by the tidal wave of teamwork and agility on display 3-2. 7HRK were a dangerous opponent in the Semi-final but the try of the tournament secured a place in the final for the unstoppable 7HOR. Al Woodbridge scooped up a loose ball and skipped past two defenders passing to Coltrane Chead. All aboard Coltrane took on a defender and passed to Ben Supple, last term’s Sports Captain, who ran five meters before throwing the scoring pass on to the lightning booted Jesse Starkey for a worthy finish in the corner.
The Final was a defining display of touch rugby, passing was crisp and the defense well organised with Kieran Davies and George Ousley featuring in several good moments. 7KLY though brave and determined could not muster even a consolation try and could not stop the onslaught from pace merchants Ben Supple and Jesse Starkey. Al Woodbridge and Coltrane Chead also proved difficult to stop putting all of their experience into the game. Whatever Mr Lawrence and Mr Ibbott are teaching these boys, it must be good!

Well done to all that competed and supported it was a good week had by all!!!
England (D Half) Vs Cameroon (S Half)
Yet again, England (D Half) was expected to see off their opponents with ease! Steve McClaren (Eric Wedge-Bull) was quoted saying: “It is a game that I would fully expect a positive outcome from.” How these words would come back to haunt him!
The first half was a display of desperate defending from the Cameroon (S Half) team, who were quite literally pinned into their own half of the pitch for the entire period, resembling a scene from “the Alamo.” Last ditch defending again and again thwarting England. Af “Emile Hesky” Williams missing a plethora of opportunities to send in England into the break in a commanding position.
During the second half, buoyed by their first half defensive performance, Cameroon improved. After some passing reminisant of the 1978 Liverpool side, Henry “Roger Millar” Golding unleashed a thunderous shot that the God of thunder himself, “Thor” would have proud of. The ball whistled passed Brock “Gordon Banks” Duncan-Rogers and with the net still bulging, Cameroon reeled away in celebration.
McClaren’s (Wedge-Bull) tactical naivety was now exposed. England moving to a 3 – 1 – 6 formation! Within seconds of this change Cameroon had broken away and England could not live with the electrifying pace of Josh “Eto’o” James who rounded the keeper to finish with great aplomb.
England were now desperate and it showed. Their only chance fell to Charlie “Carlton Palmer” Miles. Two yards out with an open goal, he some how managed to secure a throw in for Cameroon!!!
With all hope now gone, England had salt rubbed into their already open, painful wound. Josh “Eto’o” James scoring an audacious goal from all of forty yards. Once again Brock “Gordon Banks” Duncan-Rogers eye sight may have played a part in the goal, but nothing could be taken away from the Man of the Match Eto’o.
Final Score: England 0 Cameroon 3

7JST Rugby Victory!
On the 24th January the girls Year 7 inter-form rugby began, the competition was on! Holly Lawn, Rosie Wickenden, Rhoslyn Roebuck-Williams, Hannah Smith and myself (7JST) started the tournament off by playing 7BRY. We were all very nervous but after a few points we all got into the swing of things. The final score was 3 -0 to 7JST. We were all very red and panting but really enjoying it! Next we played 7PRC, we knew this would be more of a challenge because Miss Prince is the girls rugby coach and would have really motivated her team. The match was pretty equal a variety of fast runners and tough defenders . The score 1-1. We went back to class with smiles on our faces.
The next day the finals were played. Our first match was against 7 HOR and we were ready to win. The match ended 3-1 to 7JST. We had got to the final. The final kicked off with IBT v JST a tough game with both teams playing to win. The game ended 4 -1 to us!!!
We were all very pleased with the result and would like to thanks all the other teams for good play and all the teachers and referees who helped!

7HOR Clinch Inter-Form Victory!

7HOR clinched a dramatic final to win the Year 7 Inter-Form Football Tournament with a stunning display of composure in a tense penalty shoot-out.
After cruising through a first round tie with Mr Ibbott’s form, 7HOR kept their cool to see off their semi-final rivals from Miss Poole’s form. They exhibited passing, communication and maturity far exceeding their young age as they romped to a 5-0 win in the first round, some classy touches and quick passes put striker Jesse Starkey in to score on more than one occasion with tight defense preventing the opposition from scoring a goal.
The Semi-Final was an all round tighter affair with a sterner test of the defense, which again held firm with captain Ben Supple starring to inspire the troops to a well earned 2-0 victory.
The final was a tenser environment yet with both sides missing early chances. It was 7HOR who scored first following some brilliant passing and a display of one-touch football which any premiership team would be proud of. The score remained the same until the last minute of the game when it seemed as if the game was in the bag, the last attack of the match saw a late equalizer for our opponents.
Penalties..... as tense as any sudden death penalty shoot-out, both teams missed with their first efforts. Goalkeeper Max saved two penalties before scoring his own to pile the pressure on the opposition, one of whom missed a must score penalty to hand the title to 7HOR.
Thank you to the PE department for arranging and running such a fantastic event!
The Winning Team:
- Ben Supple (captain)
- Max Stuart
- Jesse Starkey
- Joel Kerr
- George Ousley

7KLY Interform Football Victory!

Our first match was against 7PLE. It was quite an exciting match for 7KLY because we were losing 1-0 and we were trying to get back into the game. Izzy and Georgie were trying to keep our spirits up; luckily in the nick of time Lucia scored a goal. So fortunately we weren’t out, but we weren’t quite through yet. We had to return during the next lunchtime so we could play another game.
We came along ready to play but this time we had no subs. A few minutes into the match Grace scored an excellent goal. For that match our main priority was to make sure the other team didn't score a goal and our defenders managed to keep the ball away from the goal. The whistle blew with the score 1 –0, we screamed as we were through to the final.
Mr Kelly, our form tutor, must have heard about this so he came to watch the final. We had a bit of a disadvantage because we were all worn out and tired whilst for the other team it was their first match of the day. We started with kick off; I saw that our team were passing a lot, which was really good. Everyone was playing really well. Chloe our goalie didn’t need to make a single save because the opposition team didn’t quite manage to get the ball anywhere near the goal.
We were about half way through the match when Ellen scored a goal for us. The other team were really trying hard now but unfortunately their best wasn’t enough. Then towards the end of the game Lucia managed to sneak a goal in the back of the net. A couple of minutes after that Ellen was tripped up and she hurt her arm and was taken off so we were a person down. We carried on playing till the whistle blew, leaving the score at 2-0.You wouldn’t quite believe how much we screamed and cheered when we won. We had to go up to the Sports Hall to get our photo taken, we were really happy and proud.
