Hollywood Calls

Year 7 pupil Rosie Taylor-Ritson has been cast as a main character in the new movie 'Nanny McPhee 2' featuring Emma Thompson, which will be shown in cinemas worldwide in 2010.

The next installment of the Nanny McPhee series was written by Emma Thompson, who plays the title character. It was Emma who also cast the movie, holding auditions back in October of last year. After five call-backs, Rosie beat thousands of auditionees to the role, which will see her playing Celia Grey, a "posh, lonely girl" who is looked after by Nanny McPhee.

Rosie will spend the next six months living in London whilst the film is being made. Her days will consist of 4 hours of academic tuition on set and 5-6 hours of filming Monday to Friday with some Saturday filming too. She is going to be a very busy little 12 year old!

Since starting Stringer Rosie has been an active member of the News Team, writing for our school magazine DiSH. She is hoping to keep an on-set diary for us whilst making the movie, so stay tuned to find out more from Rosie as she starts work next month!

We are extremely proud of Rosie and wish her all the luck in the world as she heads off to take the movie world by storm. As they would say in the industry: "Break a leg, Rosie!"
