Love in a Box 2009
A huge thank you to all of you who made boxes, sent gifts or donated cash. We collected just under 300 boxes - about the same as last year - but this year for the first time we managed to raise enough money to pay for transport too (over £500 in total), which was fantastic!
The charity is run from a small warehouse in Eastbourne and they sent almost 50,000 boxes to Eastern Europe last year. There is just one man who works there full-time, and a team of elderly volunteers who pack and check boxes. It is incredible what they manage to achieve.
The boxes will be sent to children in orphanages in the Ukraine and Bosnia to help them have a happier Christmas. This is the fifth year that staff, parents and pupils of Dorothy Stringer have supported Love in a Box and in total we have sent approximately 1500 boxes of presents to needy children around the world.
