Drop Everything and Read Week

Monday 27th February - Friday 2nd March

DEAR is nearly here!

There are now 2 weeks to go to our 'Drop Everything and Read' week (Tuesday 28th February - Friday 2nd March) so it's time to help your child get ready to read.

Over the half-term holiday could you please talk to your child about which book they will read. We are suggesting that they read the same book every day (to help avoid that last minute rush before they leave for school as they run around the house trying to find something to take with them).

If you don't have lots of books at home then you could suggest a visit to the local Library. We have great libraries in Brighton and there is no charge (for children) if books are overdue, so encourage your child to become a member.

Charity shops are also an excellent source of books. There is no need to buy a book as we have a fantastically well-stocked Library in school. Please encourage your child to get a book from the school library.

If you do have spare books at home that are no longer read but are suitable for others to read, then remember that you can send them into school with your child who can deposit them in the Library; a great way to de-clutter your shelves!
