The award winning Ape Theatre Company has performed to well over a million people. It was set up by Matt Allen in 1988 to produce an effective way of ensuring important messages are delivered in a way to capture the imagination, encourage thought and discussion, and to leave a memorable impression. Also to give young performers and directors a medium in which to produce their work. APE actors have in the past, and continue to feature in a number of high profile theatre, television and film productions.

Our new drug-drive play aimed at 16 to 21 year olds. The play is documentary - taken from interviews, telling the true story of four 18 year olds who after a weekend of drugs and sleep deprivation at a music festival, crashed horrifically on the motorway in 1997. Two of the victims died; one at the scene of the incident and one after being airlifted to Hospital.

One surviving passenger witnessed the whole tragic incident with hardly a scratch; from the car crashing, through trying to save her friends lives, and finally to the burying of two of her friends. All at the age of 18. The other friend went into a coma. On finally recovering she asked, "Why don't boys want to kiss me anymore". Serious drug use (toxicology .42) and sleep deprivation were the coroner's conclusion.
