Learning Support - Provision
Pupils are invited to receive support and consultation takes place with them and their parents. We support pupils in the following ways:
Monitoring and Record keeping
We try to keep paperwork to a minimum and only issue what we hope is helpful and meaningful to pupils’ parents and staff.
The Action Record lists pupils within the school who have been identified as having a learning difficulty. This is distributed to every member of staff including cover supervisors.
Individual Education Plans aim only to record what is additional to or differentiated from the curriculum which is available as part the provision for all pupils. They are generally written with pupils and copies are sent to parents, from tutors, subject teachers, Heads of Department, Departmental Administrators and Senior Management Team.
Co-ordinating special needs provision
We work closely within the school with the special needs team under the direction of the SENCO. This team involves the Pastoral Manager (supporting vulnerable pupils), the Support Centre, the School Counsellor, the teacher with responsibility for pupils for whom English is an additional language. We also liaise with the Pastoral Team, Connexions (careers advice) and the School Nurse
