Theatre in Education
As part of Year 10 Work Experience week, we formed a Theatre in Education Company to work with Year 6 pupils, planning and performing a short devised piece called 'Movin’ Up!' which is about the daunting progression from Primary to Secondary school.
We visited two Dorothy Stringer feeder schools and lead a workshop with the Year 6 pupils with an aim to finding out their hopes, queries and worries about moving to Secondary school so that we could devise a piece that is relevant to our audience.
We then returned to these schools to perform an approximately twenty minute piece with the intension of answering their questions; eliminating any rumours they may have heard and generally reassuring and informing them and focussing on the positive aspects of moving up to Secondary school.
