Lets Dance is a series of performances at the Dome where all schools in the Brighton and Hove LEA are invited to put on a performance.
The dates are Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th March 2010
There are 72 schools in the area.
Each school does one performance only, duration 4 minutes.
Each night at the Dome 16 to19 schools take part
2500 pupils take part over the 4 days.
2500 parents will want to se the show
On the following 2 days it is the Dorothy Stringer Dance Show only. We are not responsible for organising this.
Schools have to register to take part and pay £100 deposit.
The schools that take part in the evening will be allocated half an hour rehearsal time during the day. A rehearsal schedule must be drawn up to take into account how far pupils have to travel to get to the Dome.
The pupils that take part during the first half of the show will sit in the dressing rooms pre-show and during show then move to the auditorium during the interval
The pupils taking part in the second half will sit in the auditorium for the first half then move to the dressing rooms during the interval.
Stringer pupils will co-ordinate the turn around
Dressing rooms will be allocated to each school
In the auditorium pupils will sit in the middle seats, parents around the outside
Performance specification
- Performance duration – 4 minutes max
- Lighting requirements can range from coloured effects such as ‘jazzy’, or ‘sombre’
- Music to be provided in the correct format to organisers in advance and a copy to be brought by the school on the night
- Musicians on stage can be accommodated
Photographs
A photographer will be booked to take group shots and individual shots. These will be sold as DVDs or individual prints. DVDs can be pre-ordered from the web site, or from the theatre on the night (via a form in the programme). They will also be viewable on the web site – but only to each school.
T-shirts
Ordering of T-shirts must be maximised to sell as many as possible. Order forms in the programme and on the web site
Permission slips
Schools will have to obtain photograph permission slips for all pupils taking part
Schools will have to provide a register of all pupils taking part (Fire Register)
A risk assessment must be done
